That is good to know it plays fine with VRR. I might buy it and try it out and worst case scenario play it on my monitor. 15 to 20 (so 17 or 18 average?) is not the average load time in-game….there’s no way to spin it as such. None of the sites mentioned state that as an average with any kind of thorough sample across the whole game and I can also say that’s not the case with 100% certainty based on covering every square inch of that game across hundreds of hours. What I am saying is that the average load time absolutely was not 15 to 20 seconds. In contrast, the average loading speed was 12 seconds to get back into strife after an inevitable death.Īgain, I’m not saying that there are no 7+ second load times or that they aren’t significantly improved now. The loading time here consists of booting the game from the main menu. Xbox Series X could make you gaze upon the loading screen for as long as 20 seconds. IGN’s testing detected the average loading time to be around 7 seconds on PS5. “10 to 20” doesn’t tell you what the average is.
I’m talking about the actual average they claimed, and not just a wide range among a small sample like DF mentioned. Using that would be a case of cherry picking like you mention. Post-patch that same point loads in 4-5 seconds, so again, the faux concern trolling over “how can they possibly improve it?” is beyond absurd.ġ7 to 18 is the average initial load time (if not using quick resume), not the in-game average which is what I’m talking about.Īlso averages of 3 samples with a worst case example does not reflect an accurate average across the whole game. So when someone’s gonna argue with me that they never had a load over 7 seconds you bet I’m calling bullshit on it. I timed it because it got noticeably annoying.
Like I said in another comment I died fighting the Fire Giant more than any other boss in the game and it was a 15-16 second load, over and over. The thing you’re not considering is that the loading screens you’re going to see the most are the ones after death, often dozens of times in the same location.
You just cherry picked the fastest load, tried to pass it off as an average and then accused me of exaggerating all in the same breath, well done! They demonstrate 3 loads: a 12.2 second, a 17.8 second and a 19.7 second, longer than anything DF shows. And for the record, IGN’s video (which I hadn’t seen) doesn’t report a 12 second average as you claim. What I was pushing back on was the comments from people who were confused as to how they could possibly improve the load times because they were already great as far as they were concerned. The range DF give in their video is “10-20 seconds on average”, and they show an example of a 17-18 second in-game load (i.e.
17 seconds is also much slower than the 7 seconds the other commenter insisted was the longest load he experienced in 200+ hours. 17-18 seconds is dead in the middle of the 15-20 second range I gave, and is what I experienced throughout my playthrough.
